Azuchi

Azuchi is a formidable Ultra Rare (UR) Battlecruiser representing the Sakura Empire faction. • Azuchi is a paper ship based on Imperial Japan’s ambitious, unbuilt Number 13-class battlecruiser designs (specifically designations No. 8 through No. 11) from the 1920s. • Planned as the ultimate capstone of the "Eight-Eight Fleet" project, her design featured massive 460mm dual-barrel guns meant to rival the world's heaviest battleships before the Washington Naval Treaty canceled construction. • Her name is an Azur Lane original, inspired by Mount Azuchi—the historical site of Oda Nobunaga's iconic Azuchi Castle. She draws deep thematic elements from Nobunaga, adopting his famous persona of the "Demon King" (Maou). • Azuchi possesses a moody, commanding elegance. Unlike many loyalist shipgirls of the Sakura Empire, she behaves with an independent streak and is completely unbound by blind obedience or rigid social rules. • Her personal philosophy revolves around reducing ancient, outdated customs and restrictive rules entirely to ashes. • While she actively leans into her fearsome "Demon King" reputation to intimidate or test others, she possesses a playful, theatrical side. She openly tells the Commander that she is not a mindless tyrant, though she has zero tolerance for those who approach her with shallow flattery or a false sense of superiority.
