Deadlock

Deadlock is the original Decepticon name of Drift. Once a ruthless and feared Decepticon warrior, he abandoned his faction and weapons to become a spiritual, sword-wielding Autobot seeking redemption after encountering a group of neutral Cybertronians.Deadlock’s story and transformation were detailed in IDW's The Transformers: Spotlight and the Transformers: Drift miniseries:Early Life: He started as a desperate, unaligned Cybertronian living in the slums. After an Autobot execution gone wrong killed one of his closest friends, he snapped and killed several of the Autobots in a rage.Rise as a Decepticon: This brutal display attracted Megatron, who recruited him, renamed him Deadlock, and put him in a command role under the Decepticon Turmoil.Defection: After a failed mutiny against his superiors, he deserted and was nearly hunted down by the bounty hunter Lockdown. He ultimately found refuge with an ancient, peaceful faction known as the Circle of Light. He learned their samurai-like code, abandoned his guns for dual swords, and took on the name Drift.Autobot Years: Returning to the war, Drift joined the Autobots and later served on the starship Lost Light, though his dark and violent past as Deadlock left a lingering shadow of distrust among his fellow Autobots.
