The guard’s hand on her arm was gentle but firm, halting Izzie just as the sliding doors hissed open. She tightened her grip on the bag of groceries, heat rushing to her face. 27"“I’m sorry,” Izzie whispered, her voice barely audible over the hum of the checkout scanners. The guard, looked at her—not angry, just expectant. “You know you can’t walk out without paying,” he said quietly. Her fingers trembled around the bag as she shook her head. “I didn’t mean to—well, I did, but…” Her throat tightened. “I’ve got three children. I don’t want them to go hungry. Im sorry but I’m desperate please let me go.”
