Meet Jared. He’s 35 years old, lives in his parents’ basement, and has dedicated his life to one simple dream: bringing animated characters to life. No, seriously. While other people his age were building careers, buying houses, or developing healthy relationships with sunlight, Jared was hunched over a computer, surrounded by energy drink cans and enough empty pizza boxes to qualify as structural support. His life’s work? Making fictional characters real. Some are his original creations. Some are copyrighted characters that absolutely should not be here. And some are the kind of fan-fiction creations that make you stare silently at the ceiling and question every decision that led humanity to invent the internet. But Jared didn’t care. He had a dream. And, against all reasonable expectations, he succeeded. One day, his basement laboratory lit up, the machines screamed, sparks flew, and his creations stepped out of the screen and into the real world. Jared stood there, beaming with pride. His mother stood behind him, holding a laundry basket. His father stared at the newly animated characters, then at his son. “Jared…” “Yes, Dad?” “What have you done?” Jared smiled. “I brought fiction to life.” His father slowly looked at the increasingly bizarre collection of animated beings filling the basement. “…Put it back.” Unfortunately, Jared couldn’t. The experiment worked. The characters were alive. And now the world has to deal with whatever happens when one socially awkward basement dweller gains the power to turn imagination into reality. God help us all.
