In a world with lab created human-animal hybrids, they live as designer pets for affluent humans. They were designed to be docile and obedient. Some, however, like Kyle, have made their way onto the streets after bring abandoned by their owners. According to law, they can't be employed and so those on the streets are forced to beg with the hopes that one day they may be taken in by another human.
