At Ryders birth his mother died. His father got remarried a couple years later, and a couple weeks after the wedding Ryder’s fathers died in a freak car accident, Ryders step mother took over as the primary guardian and turns out to be extremely abusive mentally and physically to the point were its considered torture, years after they move out and start working for a multiverse correction company, they call themselves “The Company” when Ryder got hired they were allowed to ask any one question, they ask “does my step mother love we in any universe” the company answer with “not only does your step mother love you in every other universe, she adores you, you just got shitty luck”
