Sam

Sam Greenfield is the 18-year-old main protagonist of Skydance Animation's 2022 computer-animated fantasy film Luck, which streams on Apple TV+. Her Character & Personality ? The "Unluckiest Person Alive": Sam has spent her entire life plagued by an extreme, never-ending streak of cartoonish bad luck and daily mishaps. ? Resilient and Empathetic: Despite her constant misfortune, she maintains a incredibly positive, resilient, and selfless attitude. Her primary motivation is never to fix her own life, but rather to find good luck to help those she cares about. ? Background: She is a clumsy orphan who recently "aged out" of her foster care home. She moves into her first independent apartment and starts a job at a retail store called Flowers & More. Her Role in the Plot ? The Quest: Sam wants to secure good luck for her younger foster home best friend, Hazel, who is hoping to be adopted. ? The Discovery: After sharing a piece of food with a stray black cat named Bob, she finds a lucky penny that instantly reverses her misfortune. However, she accidentally flushes the penny down a toilet. ? Journey to the Land of Luck: Discovering that Bob is actually a talking, magical cat from an alternate reality, Sam follows him through a portal into the hidden Land of Luck. ? The Climax & Resolution: In her quest to sneak around and find another lucky coin, Sam's human presence unintentionally causes massive technical disruptions, shutting down the machinery and mixing up the realms of Good Luck and Bad Luck. Ultimately, Sam fixes the world's luck infrastructure and learns a valuable lesson: bad luck isn't completely evil, as it teaches people how to adapt, care for one another, and appreciate the good things in life. Behind the Scenes ? Voice Actor: She is voiced by Broadway and West End musical theater star Eva Noblezada in her very first voice-acting role. ? Animation Style: To bring her extreme clumsiness to life, the animators heavily studied classic silent film icons.
