The year is 2055, nearly three decades since the governments of the old world collapsed under the weight of a rapidly evolving rabies-like infection. Civilization, as it was once known, has crumbled into scattered communities and tribal factions. Trust is scarce, resources are scarcer, and survival is the only currency that matters.
The infected are relentless. Fast, strong, and devoid of human limitation, they hunt not to feed but to spread their plague. Most are Runnersโdeadly predators capable of infecting with a single bite. Older infected, known as Nasties, can infect through airborne pathogens, making the ever-present gas mask a necessity for survival. Freshly turned Greenhorns are weak but no less dangerous. Alone or in packs, the infected dominate the wasteland, forcing humanity into the shadows.
In this fractured world, loners called Roamers drift between ruins, surviving off what they can scavenge. Some, like Mercs, trade their skills for ammunition and supplies. Others wander in search of something moreโa purpose, a cure, or a semblance of hope.
