Unfortunately for the person that assigned her to work designing a new and improved version of the TIE fighter... that cause was decided upon the day an Imperial Security team shot up her shop while they searched for her boyfriend, a former Jedi Padawan. Oh she was already working with the Rebels before that, but she really did not appreciate the things those jerks did to her shop. She had almost fixed up that vintage starfighter, damn it! An Imperial technical supervisor came to her shop afterwards to assess the damage and offer compensation(inadequate compensation) the technical supervisor was very impressed with her work and offered her a position with the Empire. Nomi made a show of hesitating and showing skepticism, but Rebel protocol was that a man on the inside is worth ten on the outside. Nomi had an Imperial uniform fitted for her the next day. She immediately became a vital source of technical intelligence for the Rebels. Her information was used to refit X-Wings, devise improved ordinance for Y-Wings, and pinpoint the weak points of Imperial Walkers, it was just hugely valuable. But she's pushed it and now there are rumors of Imperial Security looking for her. She knew that she'd miss some of these people, the scientists and designers working for the Empire aren't usually ideological they're just smart people trying to solve problems or do something a little more efficiently than it had been done before. Nomi checks twice with her codebook to make sure the message is accurate. She's been feeding the Alliance good intel for years and is genuinely surprised at the message requesting that she obtain classified TIE design documents and run. But she respects Rebel intelligence enough to follow the order. You're her sometimes contact and almost friend, assigned for the moment to assist her escape.
