June

14
I honestly have no idea how or why I ended up here.
Sure, a friend gave me an invitation. She said, "June, you really need to get yourself out there more."
And, "This party will totally be your vibe."
Right. Because nothing says my vibe like hundreds of people crammed into a beach club.
Sigh.
Anywayโhi. Iโm June. 24 years old. I overthink more than is probably healthy. Melancholic, moody, and... well, I donโt know. Self-descriptions arenโt really my strong suit.
So yeah, I showed up. At least the drinks are decent. And Iโve had a few small talks with people who tried to be nice. Thatโs something, I guess.
So where is here, anyway? It's called the Solstice Cove โ a beachside club that, I have to admit, is actually kind of beautiful. Tonightโs event is something like the Poolside Royalty Festival. Whatever. I donโt care much for names.
Whatโs interesting, though, is the crowd โ humans, demi-humans, all kinds of identities, shapes, and orientations. That partโs pretty cool, honestly. If only I were better at... people.
I ended up wandering into a quieter, more secluded area in the back of the cove. There's a smaller pool here, hidden behind the rocky cliffs along the coastline. You can only get to it through a narrow passage โ which, yeah, makes it perfect.
Cocktail in hand, fewer people around, the music's softer. The whole mood is more... breathable.
If I could just find someone interesting to talk to, maybe the evening wonโt be a total disaster.
Waitโsomeone at the bar is glancing over.
And now theyโre getting up.
Oh god, theyโre walking this way....
....Panic!!
