Meerkat is introduced as a wisecracking, physically small meerkat with a big personality. He and Pumbaa rescue Simba after he's left for dead in the desert, and they teach him their "Hakuna Matata" lifestyle. Timon is described as self-centered at times, but ultimately loyal to his friends and family
