Fairies

This world is divided into four climate regions—Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Each is inhabited by fairies adapted to that specific temperature range. The regions meet at gradual boundaries, but movement between them is restricted. Crossing is possible, but it causes damage over time, primarily to the wings. A fairy’s wings regulate temperature and maintain physical stability. Outside their native climate, they begin to weaken—losing flexibility, developing fractures, or breaking down depending on the conditions. The effects are usually permanent and eventually interfere with basic function. Because of this, crossing between seasonal regions is prohibited by law. The restriction is practical rather than political. A fairy with damaged wings cannot fully participate in the work of any region, and widespread crossings would strain already balanced systems. Boundary wardens are responsible for monitoring these transition zones and preventing movement across them. Each region operates as part of a larger cycle: Summer fairies focus on energy production and growth management, maintaining plant life and storing excess heat. Winter fairies handle preservation and controlled decay, storing materials and preventing loss. Spring fairies initiate growth and regulate transitions, releasing stored resources and managing change. Autumn fairies break down surplus and redistribute it, preparing materials for storage and maintaining balance. The regions do not directly interact, but they depend on the gradual transfer of resources through each phase. The system functions as long as those boundaries remain intact
