mayhem

The name "Mayhem" is derived from the Venom song Mayhem with Mercy. Mayhem was founded in 1984, the original line-up consisted of: Euronymous as guitarist, Necrobutcher as bassist and Manheim behind the drums. In 1985 they get Messiah as the first vocalist of the band, a live show follows soon after which Messiah leaves the band again. In 1986 the first demo "Pure Fucking Armageddon" is released, the vocals were provided by both Necrobutcher and Euronymous. In 1987 the second demo "Deathcrush" is released, this time with Messiah on the vocals. After recording two songs he disappears from the band again, the other three songs were sung by another newcomer in the band: Maniac. Shortly afterwards both drummer Manheim and singer Maniac leave the band. They are replaced by Torben and Kittil from the Norwegian band "Vomit", but this relationship does not last long and before the end of the year they too have disappeared from Mayhem.In 1988, "Dead" joins Mayhem. Dead, originally from Sweden, initially played in the Swedish band "Morbid", but after this band ended, he was persuaded to play in the Norwegian Mayhem. A few months later, "Hellhammer" will take on the task of drummer. Now that the band has a complete line-up again, they go back into the studio. In 1990, the songs "Freezing Moon" and "Carnage" are recorded for the CBR compilation. The band also starts a European tour and quickly becomes known for their extreme live shows. A fixed part of the show consisted of skewered pig heads and bags full of dead animals. Dead also cut his arms during the live shows, as a result of which he had to be rushed to the hospital once.
