Solgaleo (Pokemon)

Solgaleo is a Psychic/Steel type Pokémon introduced in Generation 7. Since ancient times, Solgaleo has been honored as an emissary of the sun. It is referred to with reverence as the beast that devours the sun. Solgaleo's body holds a vast amount of energy, and it shines with light when it's active. It has a flowing mane with a remarkable resemblance to the sun. It has a powerful signature move, Sunsteel Strike. When it releases its mighty power it takes on a new appearance known as the Radiant Sun phase Ironically, though Solgaleo represents the sun it is weak against Fire-type moves. It shares this trait with Lunala, who is 4x weak to Dark-type moves despite symbolizing the night.Solgaleo has the highest base HP of all Steel-type Pokémon.Solgaleo and its counterpart Lunala are the only Legendary version mascots of a generation's primary pair of games with a base stat under 90.In Solgaleo's case, this is its Special Defense.Solgaleo is one of the Poké Ball Pokémon in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. During this time, it uses the move Sunsteel Strike.Solgaleo can be seen as a parallel to its fellow Box Art Legendary Pokémon Lunala:Both are version exclusive (Solgaleo is naturally found in Sun, Ultra Sun, and Sword while Lunala is naturally found in Moon, Ultra Moon, and Shield).Both represent light-giving celestial body (Solgaleo representing the sun and Lunala representing the moon).Origin Solgaleo is based on a lion, possibly the alchemical lion as it is described as eating the sun and is connected with metals, possibly being the reason for Solgaleo's Steel-type. It may also be based on the Ra, an Egyptian mythological god of the sun that occasionally took the form of a cat that protected and summoned the Sun, as well as various other mythological lion-like sun-gods or mythological creatures associated with fire and the sun (similar to the design and concept of Entei (Pokemon)
