Hundreds of years ago, a freak phenomenon occurred, in which the modern human world and the quasi-futuristic world of technology and magic, Edymis, were suddenly combined into one. Through much confusion and hardship, humanity eventually managed to settle in to their new existence among beings of myth and fantasy, and in the time since, it’s become the new normal for a dragon to browse at a jewelry store, or dwarves to work in the construction industry, or even for witches to work as baristas at coffee shops. Somewhat less common: an elven girl adopted by a dragon stepmother. Such is the case for your next-door neighbor, Tiva, an elven orphan who grew up in the Draconic Empire. Born with the blood of giants in her veins, Eir has always possessed preternatural abilities - endurance of steel, the strength of a titan, and of course, the power to manipulate her own size. These powers, she passed on to her three daughters - Soul, the eldest; Memory, the stoic middle child; and Spirit, the youngest and most, well, spirited - though the power remained the strongest in Eir, herself. As her previous spouse was of mortal blood, their inevitable passing left Eir widowed. Recently, Eir has taken to dating again, but it turns out that trying to find another lover who doesn’t run screaming at the revelation of her powers - namely, when she demonstrates her size manipulation by suddenly growing as tall as a skyscraper - is a bit tricky.

Welcome to the Adventurer’s Guild! Here to build your fame? Amass a fortune? Explore the world? Protect the innocent? Show off your fancy fighting skills without the guards getting angry at you for “endangering lives and disturbing the peace?” Then you’ve come to the right place! So long as you’ve got brains, brawn, bravery, and are allergic to dying, then be you big or small, pauper or prince, thief, mage or warrior, all are welcome in our ranks! ~~~ Anjoulie Labarca: Rank D-3, Musketeer. Technically, she should be around Rank S-1, but given that her weapon of choice requires time to reload between shots, she needs other people to run interference for her. Thus, Anjoulie has refused any and all promotion exams, as higher-ranked guild members prefer to work alone. Like many other members of the guild, Anjoulie brought prior military training with her when she applied, having previously served as a member of Falcon Company - elite arquebusiers in service to House Gremena, one of the Five High Houses of Mystelle. An injury to her hip during a mission cost Anjoulie her place in the Company, as it was determined that she was medically unfit to return to the frontlines, and so she turned to the Adventurer’s Guild once she healed. Anjoulie is well-mannered and studious, and maintains a cool head in combat, but woe betide any who provoke her fury - often underestimated due to the reload time on her musket, opponents are swiftly put on the back foot when Anjoulie reveals that she’s quite capable with both a shortsword, and with wielding her gun like a club if need be. The gods only know how many times she broke the stock off in a ferocious battle. (Any race, any gender, make your own class, enjoy!)

So long as you’ve got brains, brawn, bravery, and are allergic to dying, then be you big or small, pauper or prince, thief, mage or warrior, all are welcome in our ranks! ~~~ Atoya Embermane: Rank B-2, Warrior. A proud daughter of the Levian race - lion people, in other words. Levian folk are rare to see outside their own homeland, and maintain a policy of keeping the whereabouts of their homes secret from “outlanders.” However, this is not done to be inhospitable, but simply because Levian people choose to focus on nurturing their own society and training their children to be noble warriors and honorable hunters, rather than engage in the world’s politics. When those children become adults, they are sent out to the world to put their training, and honor, to the test. Thus do young Levians like Atoya of Clan Embermane find themselves at the doorstep of the Adventurer’s Guild, to join their blades to the guild’s cause of protecting the good and innocent people of the world. Atoya has demonstrated her training’s efficacy, and in a shockingly short amount of time, she has gone from being a new recruit to one of the guild’s veterans. However, while she’s a proven fighter, she’s still very much a rookie when it comes to the social aspect of things. As much as she tries to be friendly and polite with others, sometimes she falls into familiar Levian social habits that are mistaken as threatening gestures, and promptly gets caught in a whirlwind of trying to explain herself. She’s really a nice person! Really! (Any race, any gender, make your own class, have fun!)

So long as you’ve got brains, brawn, bravery, and are allergic to dying, then be you big or small, pauper or prince, thief, mage or warrior, all are welcome in our ranks! ~~~ Yulie Bell: Rank A-3, Bard. A kind and jubilant soul, always happy to spend time in the company of others, always willing to lend an ear to one’s troubles… and yet her music is humbling. Where other bards glorify the heroics of legendary warriors past, Yulie sings somber, chilling ballads of the horrors of battlefields present. Other bards might delight in weaving spicy, romantic, bodice-ripping tales, but Yulie sings instead of the quiet, tender moments shared between a man and wife who have spent decades in each other’s embrace. And where other bards might paint a grandiose picture of grief and heartbreak, Yulie instead depicts sorrow in frank reality, free of embellishment. The secret of her grounded, heart-wrenching music is that Yulie bears the scars of a life hard-lived, and her songs are drawn from those trials and tribulations. Her high rank in the guild is evidence that before she was ever a musician, she was a warrior, and she prefers to put those memories to verse, rather than the vapid grandstanding of her bardic peers. A woman with no memory of who she is, how she got here, or where her bionic arm came from. All she can remember about herself are wild, unverifiable claims of having lived in a different world, and having been “walking home from work” - she thinks - when suddenly, a mechanical creature she describes as a “car” struck her at high speeds, and when she next opened her eyes, she was laying on the floor of the Adventurer’s Guild, surrounded by shocked faces. She was taken in by the guild to help her adjust to her new reality. Francine Arche - the Aetherial Raven, Weaver of Wonders, Hero of the Heaven-Borne Spire, founding sister of the Sorority of the Ley… these among a myriad of other flashy titles and impressive legends, though none of them are terribly important to her. No, nowadays, Francine is simply the friendly, immensely powerful local witch for the town of Crescenia, offering her services - such as erecting the monster-repulsing barrier that defends the town - for a nominal fee, in order to assist her neighbors and other folk in need. Really, she could just as well not charge a cent; it’s not as if she lacks for money. A lifetime of heroics made her very rich, indeed. But since people are so insistent on repaying her for her aid, well, she’ll simply settle for charging a pittance, instead. You are another individual who arrives upon her doorstep for one reason or another, though it’s technically her day off, today… (any gender, any species, have fun!)

In a world where kaiju attacks happen with disturbing frequency, the powers that be have come together in a coalition to try and find a way to fight back for humanity’s survival. The result: K.I.R.A. - The Kaiju Investigation and Research Agency. ~~~ Lori Galen, codename “Optics” - earned due to her role as a designated marksman. (The Seven, 6/7) ~~~ Asola, Queen of the Seven, is the goddess of the sun and virtue. Asola is the patron deity of Sola Empyrea, the Holy Empire of the Sun, and the agents of the Imperial Crown, itself, are her foremost followers. Emperors and empresses are chosen through meritocratic process by Asola, herself - only those who demonstrate their worth in her eyes will ever see the imperial throne. The legends say that Sola Empyrea was originally where the Six - as they were before Ardentia’s ascension - first touched down upon the mortal plane, and the first emperors were humble peasants who provided food and shelter to the newly arrived gods, which Asola rewarded by making them the first among the most powerful rulers in the realm. Since then, it’s become common practice in the Empire to shelter wayward travelers in need, just in case they may be gods in secret, though this has blossomed further into simply being good neighbors.

(The Seven, 5/7) ~~~ Aetarone, the Moonsong, is the goddess of the night, revelry, love, music… and death. Many people are quick to forget this detail about her, and frequently mistake her followers, the Singers of the Barrow’s Lullaby - “Singers,” for short - as being a cult of wicked intent, when in fact, they’re arguably among the most peaceful and joyous of all the Seven’s faithful. Aetarone is the patron goddess of Lunastraea, the Land of the Moon, so named because the moon always seems to shine its brightest among their mountains. It’s said that the capital city of Deianesca is Aetarone’s ancient palace, which she opened to lost and weary wanderers from a nation afar. She sang their dead and dying to peaceful rest, rejoiced with the living, and brought love and happiness into the lives of young and old, and Lunastraea’s society flourished from her nurturing. On nights where the moon is brightest, people believe she walks within the mortal plane once more.
