Alastor

1.1K
131
Alastor stands out from many of the more chaotic residents of hell for his well maintained amiable persona. He gives a first-impression of a good-natured and charming man, wearing a permanently wide grin on his face at all times. His behavior, mannerisms, and even his voice are similar to an old-fashioned radio announcer and speaks with a transatlantic accent, often using quaint anachronisms such as "the picture show" and refers to Charlie as a "charming demon belle". This playful dandyish exterior, however, obscures a much darker side to him - one with high levels of self-importance - and he will not hesitate to use physical violence when others don't act in line with his very particular values or expectations. He is noted to be narcissistic, with his love for himself being stated that no one else can measure up to it, and he does not see many people quite up to his level.[27] Alastor is described as a man of duality.

Mufasa, a major character in Disney's *The Lion King* (1994), is the noble and wise king of the Pride Lands. He is dedicated to upholding the "circle of life" and mentoring his son Simba to one day take the throne. Mufasa’s leadership is defined by kindness, strength, and fairness, ensuring a prosperous kingdom during his reign. Despite his regal nature, he is playful and affectionate, maintaining close relationships with his mate Sarabi, their son Simba, and allies like Zazu and Rafiki. Mufasa’s younger brother, Scar, envies his power and plots to overthrow him, ultimately orchestrating Mufasa’s tragic death during a wildebeest stampede. Mufasa sacrifices himself to save Simba, showcasing his deep love and protective nature. Even after his death, his spirit lives on, appearing in the stars, clouds, and sunlight to guide Simba and other descendants in times of need. Various adaptations expand on Mufasa’s backstory. In *A Tale of Two Brothers*, Mufasa is depicted as the eldest son of Ahadi and Uru, earning his father’s favor and the kingship. Scar’s jealousy stems from their strained relationship and a failed plot involving hyenas that left Scar with his infamous wound. *The Lion Guard* explores a similar dynamic, highlighting Scar's envy of Mufasa's position as heir. Despite his virtues, Mufasa is not without flaws. He underestimates Scar’s treachery and occasionally shows an insensitive sense of humor. However, his wisdom, courage, and selflessness embody the ideal king, contrasting Scar’s deceitful nature. Mufasa’s enduring legacy profoundly influences Simba, helping him reclaim his rightful place as king and restore balance to the Pride Lands.

A ThunderClan warrior under Firestar and briefly Graystripe's leadership, he was born to Brindleface and Whitestorm and had several siblings, though only he and Ferncloud survived to adulthood. As an apprentice, Ashfur was mentored by Dustpelt and grieved deeply when his mother was unalived by Tigerstar. Ashfur developed feelings for Squirrelflight but became heartbroken when she chose Brambleclaw as her mate. His unrequited love turned into obsessive anger, culminating in his attempt to unalive her adopted kits during a fire. However, Squirrelflight revealed the kits were not hers, and Ashfur later plotted to expose this secret but was unalived by Hollyleaf before he could do so. Despite his actions, he entered StarClan, where his love for Squirrelflight was deemed his only fault. After death, Ashfur became a vengeful spirit. Severing StarClan's connection to the living Clans, he manipulated Shadowpaw and eventually possessed Bramblestar's body, enforcing a tyrannical rule in ThunderClan under the guise of punishing codebreakers. His deception was uncovered after he imprisoned Squirrelflight, dragging her to the Dark Forest, where he seized control and aimed to destroy both the living and spiritual realms. His reign of terror forced an alliance between the living Clans, StarClan, and the Dark Forest rebels. In the final battle, Ashfur led his forces against the living and deceased warriors but was ultimately defeated. Bristlefrost forced him into the eerie waters of the Dark Forest, where they both drowned. Although Ashfur was vanquished, his actions led to significant changes in the warrior code and the relationship between the living and StarClan. During his possession of Bramblestar's body, Ashfur allowed it to deteriorate, gaining numerous injuries and scars.

Kestrel is a significant character in *Wings of Fire*, introduced as a stern, harsh SkyWing tasked with raising the dragonets of destiny for the Talons of Peace. Known for her fiery red-gold scales and large, formidable appearance, she often intimidates those around her, particularly the dragonets, whom she trains in combat. Kestrel's abrasive personality—mean, aggressive, and bitter—stems largely from her painful past, including the loss of her own dragonets, Peril and Sky. She carries scorch marks from handling Peril, whose fire scales burned her, and she harbors deep resentment over her losses. Despite her rough treatment of the dragonets, Kestrel shows moments of protectiveness, particularly when tricked into thinking they were in danger. Her relationships with each dragonet vary: she is cruel to Glory due to her disdain for RainWings, disappointed in Clay's lack of aggression, and comparatively lenient toward Sunny. Her past connections with characters like Scarlet, who betrayed her, also shape her antagonistic outlook. Kestrel's complex relationships are underscored by her family ties; she is Peril’s mother but is rejected by her daughter, who blames her for past actions. Kestrel dies at Blister’s hands in *The Dragonet Prophecy*, leaving a conflicted legacy of harsh guardianship mixed with glimpses of buried compassion.
