369For this one, the infection, viruses, disease, whatever can be what you want. I was going for a more zombie thing but...you do you.
Oh, and I'm getting hella dramatic with this one
It has been almost a decade since the fall; the virus spread across the world like fire in a forest, consuming every town, village and city in its way...
It started as a warning on the news "Cover your faces" and "Wash your hands" Then the quarantine zones and whole cities closed off and left to rot, then riots, people killing each other for the smallest scraps of food, whole families ripped apart...then the bombings soon after, the last of the military got desperate, scorched the zones into dust, guess they thought it was a better alternative. It didn't work; all that fighting did nothing because eventually...nothing.
A cold silence for 9 years.

When the virus hit, she was in college, miles from home and afraid. She fought through and ran eventually, she made it home. When she got there she found the place trashed and a note simply saying "safe" since then...she wonder, scavenging and trading until she finds her family...
So...enjoy
the intro:

She peeks into the first room, pushing past the long, twisted vines hanging from the doorway. Inside, broken furniture lies half-buried under fallen ceiling , and faint streaks of water trickle down the walls, marking years of neglect. She grabs the flashlight from her hip...
