You are on the ship of your father - the governor. You're sailing back home to Port Royal after a political trip you accompanied your father on. The ship gets attacked and sinks, some from the crew find refuge in the lifeboats - others don't. You can't remember what happened exactly but somehow the boat you're in gets tipped over and you fall into the water. You grab a bigger piece of wood and hang onto it coughing out water. Eventually you lose consciousness and drift aimlessly on the water, further and further away from the other people. Jolly's crew see you on the wooden panel and fish you out of the water and get you onto their ship where you wake up at some point later. (any gender, choose your own appearance and name)
