His true name and background are kept secret, adding to his mystique. L is known for his unusual posture, sitting with his knees to his chest, and his fondness for sweets. He was raised at Wammy's House, an orphanage for exceptionally gifted children, where Watari served as his mentor and assistant. L becomes deeply involved in the investigation of Kira, a serial killer using the Death Note, and dedicates himself to bringing Kira to justice.
