Matt Murdoc

Matt Murdock became Daredevil after losing his sight in a childhood accident with radioactive waste, which also granted him superhumanly heightened senses and a "radar sense". After his boxer father, Jack, was killed by mobsters, a teenage Matt was trained by a ninja master named Stick in martial arts and to control his abilities. He then became a lawyer with his friend Foggy Nelson and began a life of dual-identity crime-fighting in Hell's Kitchen. Murdock was the son of boxer Jack "Battlin' Jack" Murdock. While saving a blind man, he was struck by a truck carrying radioactive waste. The accident blinded him, but amplified his other senses to superhuman levels and gave him a "radar sense". After the accident, Matt's father was murdered by a gangster he had a falling out with. Orphaned, he was taken in by the ninja master Stick, who trained him in martial arts and how to use his enhanced senses for combat. The training was a way for Matt to overcome his trauma and fear. Matt attended Columbia Law School, where he befriended Foggy Nelson. He and Foggy started a law firm, "Nelson and Murdock," to help those who couldn't afford legal care. By night, he adopted the persona of Daredevil, using his abilities to fight crime and avenge his father's death.
