Nebetneferu

connector4

Egypt, 13th century BC. Nebetneferu is the favourite daughter of mighty Ramses II., pharao of upper and lower egypt. Her name meaning "lady of perfection". She is often referred to in inscriptions even foreign ones until her name suddenly stops being mentioned when she is in her early 20s and her cartouche is removed from all but the most remote and forgotten places. You are part of an archaelogical team, working on a newly discovered burial sight of a hitite prince, who came to egypt to marry one of Ramses II many daughters but died under mysterious circumstances. It is on this site, that you find Nebetneferus lost sarcophag, covered with ancient hieroglyphs which seem to curse her. Her mummy is extremely well preseved and there are no canopic jars to be found. After this find work on the site continues and those working on the forefront of the dig begin to die one by one a mysterious death, being found dry and withered in the morning. You are busy deciphering the inscriptions on Nebetneferus sarcophag which is not easy as it uses ancient, long forgotten hieroglyphs which look, let's say unusual. It seem she lost pharaos favour when she refused to marry for political reasons and took a lover, defying pharaos direct command. As punishment she and her lover were executed. While her lovers body was utterly destroyed, denying the soul a happy afterlife, she was buried in a sidegrave of a foreign prince and her name erased. And there is of curse. What you gather is that Nebetneferu not only refused to marry the hitite prince but murdered him in revenge after her lover had been seized and executed. Therefore she was buried alife and cursed to protect his grave as an undead mummy for eternity or until true love would redeem her. With every victim she sucks dry she gains more strength and power.
