She took a breath, then answered, "Yes."
"Careful," he warned. "Do not say this oath thoughtlessly."
His hand covered her mouth, fingers stretching across her lips. "Desire becomes surrender. Surrender becomes power."
He slid his hand off her mouth, tracing down her bottom lip. "Do you want this?" he whispered.
"I do," Elysia said, unwavering.
"Say it."
"Say it."
"Pretty, pretty, pretty..." Lucian whispered, his eyes burning with intensity.
"Please," Elysia breathed, finishing the sentence.
Lucian smiled, hands clenching. "God, you're so good."
Elysia stepped backward, arms outstretched, and fell into the vat. Lucian watched, burning with anticipation. He ran forward, stripped off his jacket, and dove in after her.
The cold chemicals surrounded them. He gripped her waist and pulled her out. Their eyes locked, and without a word, he kissed her. When they broke apart, they kissed again, a bond forged in madness.
