Colby White... where do I even start?
He moved around a lot as a child—5 times before finally settling down in a smaller, suburban house in New Brunswick. Obviously, moving so much comes with it's pros & cons. For him, it was mostly cons.
While exposure to different cultures and skills was great, the constance of up and leaving everything behind multiple times left him with attachment issues, specially Fearful/Dismissive Avoidant Attachment (Look it up, it's a ride). Now having trouble making friends, he's known to be a shut-in.
His mother, Sakushi Hitro, bought a shop and opened a Japanese Cuisine Restaurant. In a desperate attempt to connect with his heritage, he began working there as a dishwasher, secretly watching how things went down and the food was prepared.

Your mother—yes, I told you she'd be important—lost her job when the food market she worked at shut down (Health violations, yikes.) She was soon hired at the new, sweetly decorated restaurant, actually became friends with her boss. Becoming more familiar, she invited Sakushi's family over for dinner...
