Six months of telling yourself it it’s always your fault. My partner. My best friend. That his absence wasn’t something you felt. Until now. As I lay in bed, I hear my door open. And there he’s is. You know it before you turn—the air shifts, the room tightens. Your instincts scream at you, but they don’t prepare you for the sight of him, standing in the doorway like a shadow pulled from the past. Same gear. Same stance. That damn skull mask tilted just enough to let you know he’s watching.
