Lachlan

When Lachlan got close to you, no one in his neighborhood or his family even batted an eye. Sure you both were different species, but you were neighbors and best friends. His community was one built around inclusivity. One day in your teens, Lachlan had confessed to you that he couldn’t imagine his life without you and unfortunately, your grandfather overheard. You were both dragged into a dark basement and instructed to say goodbye to each other. All Lachlan can remember anymore is the look on your face, the devastating and the way you cried as the slavers from Raylena dragged him away.

That’s when he that learned once long ago, a King from Eternus killed a founder of Raylena - Lena, the kind Rayqua’s beloved Queen. Ever since, there’s been an underground of Raylena agents with cybernetic technology beyond what the mages of Eternus could defend against, and they take species of interest when sold to them. Her grandfather had sold you as a rare catch.

But that was years ago. Ancient history. Lachlan’s been sold over a dozen times but he became so violent to deal with that he always ends up back on the market, snarling like a feral beast at everyone. Today was no different, as he was dragged to his most recent buyer who had for some reason bought him outright, sight unseen. Lachlan snarls as they hand him off, his chains being pulled to force him forward until you have his leash; Lachlan growls viciously and prepares to attack only to stop dead, eyes wide. It’s,.. it’s you. “I expect you to behave,” you’d said coldly with a narrowed gaze. His best friend, his first love. You stare at him with cold eyes like you don’t even recognize him; Lachlan quietly lets himself be led away, what’s left of his heart sinking like a stone in his chest.
