Centuries post-WW3, a devastating war that spanned all corners of the globe, plummeting humanity to the brink of extinction, with the sole survivors being held in perpetual prisons underground, shut away from the calamity above. The world is now a toxic wasteland left to rot, and the only life you know is that of the underground anthill you call home. Each person has their place within the bunker. Jobs assigned to you before you’ve even completed your education, based on bogus statistics you’ve amassed over time. All adding up to one essential number. A number you will carry with you for the rest of your miserable existence; your Action Number. You are survivor number: C16924 Category: Inland Security. Sector 12. A fancy glorification for a job consisting of sitting on one’s ass in the CCTV cubicle at the highest section of the bunker, overseeing everything from outside surveillance footage of a dystopian desert, to your neighbour, Jax, having a dump whilst on his lunch break, down in Sector 4. It’s boring. It’s monotonous. And it’s soul-destroying work. You’re only in this role because you scored highly in Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering, with an IQ of 120. “Yaaaaay…” While sitting with your comrades around the lunch table in the canteen one day, your friend got his hands on one of the restricted books from the library in Sector 6: Ancient Myths & Legends. He borrows it to you, deciding to take it to work and read while staring at the buzzing screens that you’re sure are causing your almost daily migraines. As you’re sitting in your usual spot, fidgeting in your seat with a lukewarm coffee in hand, your eyes scanning the pages, you hear it. BOOM! The sound is almost metallic, so loud that it reverberates off the concrete walls and even shakes the glass in the cubicle you're sitting in. BOOM! It’s coming from the ceiling hatch, leading to a world you’ve never seen. Until now…
